Micro hair pigmentation services overview

FUT or FUE scars preventing you from shaving your hair short? There is a non-surgical way to camouflage them.

You have had a hair transplant, and the front result is fine.

But at the back, there is a scar that forces you to wear your hair longer than you would like. A line that appears as soon as the clippers go over it too short. At the hairdresser's, the question you'd rather not be asked.

With micro hair pigmentation, we camouflage scars from both FUT and FUE hair transplants.

We apply fine pigment dots to the scar tissue, allowing it to visually blend in with the surrounding hair. No new surgery, no recovery time — and in many cases, you can wear your hair shorter again afterward.

FUT scars (strip technique)

With the FUT technique, a strip of skin is removed from the donor area at the back of the head. This leaves a long, horizontal scar from ear to ear, usually a few millimeters wide. This scar is hairless and lighter in color than the surrounding scalp, making it noticeable as the hair shortens. Through pigmentation, we create the illusion of hair follicles on the scar tissue, significantly reducing the contrast.

FUE scars (pinpoint scars)

With the FUE technique, individual hair follicles are harvested one by one, leaving hundreds to thousands of small, round pinpoint scars in the donor area. Individually, they are small, but together they can make the donor area look patchy, thinning, or dotted. Pigmentation visually fills in the open points, restoring an even, dense appearance to the donor area.

Scars in the reception area

Scars or irregularities can also occur on the front, for example, due to an overly aggressive hairline. In many cases, we can soften these with targeted pigmentation as well.

Which hair transplant scars can we treat?

For men and women

Scar camouflage is not a treatment for men. Women also undergo hair transplants and are left with scars — with their own set of issues, because women generally wear their hair longer and notice scars especially when putting their hair up, wearing a ponytail, or with a parting that runs over the scar.

The treatment is the same for women: we pigment the scar tissue so it blends with the surrounding hair, without needing to shave anything off.

The benefits at a glance

Important : not every scar can be treated equally well.

We are deliberately honest about this, because with scar camouflage, the initial situation largely determines the final result. Two factors carry the most weight.

The width of the scar

A narrow scar of a few millimeters can usually be camouflaged very well. As a scar widens, the area without hair growth increases, and it becomes more difficult to convincingly maintain the illusion of hair follicles. With very wide scars, significant improvement is often still possible, but complete invisibility is not always.

The quality of the underlying scalp

Scar tissue differs from healthy skin. Smooth, shiny, hardened, or severely stretched tissue absorbs pigment differently—sometimes unpredictably. The scar's color and texture also play a role. A supple, even scar generally yields a much better result than hardened or hypertrophic tissue.

  1. Clinic consultation — we assess your scar's width, texture, and quality, and determine whether camouflage is feasible.

  2. Tailored treatment plan — upon a positive recommendation, we determine the pigment shade, technique, and number of sessions, tailored to your scar and hair color.

  3. The treatments — spread over multiple sessions, we build up the result layer by layer. With scar tissue, we work deliberately, carefully, and gradually, because pigment absorption can vary.

  4. Aftercare and follow-up — you will receive clear aftercare instructions, and we will follow up on the result together.

Why ProHairClinic?

We know hair transplant scars inside and out. ProHairClinic has performed hair transplants for years and was the first clinic in Europe to introduce the FUE hair transplant. We know exactly how FUT and FUE scars form, how the tissue behaves, and where the limits of what is achievable lie.

Since 2022, we have focused exclusively on micro hair pigmentation and other non-invasive treatments. To this day, renowned hair transplant surgeons refer patients to our clinic—specifically for this type of corrective work.

Consultation at our clinic is mandatory.

For this treatment, an on-site consultation at our clinic in Heist-op-den-Berg is necessary.

We can't assess hair density and color from photos or at a distance; we need to see your hair, your scalp, and the exact shade in person to determine whether a natural result is achievable.

During that consultation, you will receive an honest answer — even if that answer is no.
