important information post FUE treatment

Day 1-2

• 1st and the 2nd day after your operation you must be extremely careful since the transplanted hairs are not yet 'glued' into the skin..
• Avoid each contact with the transplantation implanted area.
• Do not wash your hair. You are allowed to clean the donor area (back of the head)
• Do not perform heavy physical activities.
• Do not wear a hat or any other type of head coverage
• Spray Aloe Vera 2-3 times per day

Day 3-5

• As from the 3rd day can take a shower and have water run over the implantation area (do not touch however). Do not point the water beam directly onto the implant area
• Spray Aloe Vera 2-3 times per day
• Hat or cap is allowed, gently.

Day 6-14

• As from day 6 we advice you to start removing the crusts that have buildup in the recipient area. The best manner is: take to a shower and soak your head with warm (not hot) water for up to 25 minutes. After that you shampoo (regular shampoo) and wash your head. If the crusts do not come off easily you may use more force. Repeat daily until ALL crusts have come off. If the crusts have not come off by day 14 please contact us.
• Spray Aloe Vera 2-3 times per day

Recipient area redness

• Redness and uneven skin characteristics are normal and will last anywhere from month to 6 months. Use Aloe Vera to help the skin heal. If you run out of Aloe Vera you can get it at a local pharmacy.

Swelling

• Facial swelling may set in 1-3 days after the treatment. Drink lots of water walking will shorten the time of the swelling (maximum 7 days)
• During the first 2 weeks after the treatment the donor area may be very sensitive, especially at night. Regular to strong pain killers are to be taken if necessary. The discomfort will start to find day by day after about 6-8 days after the treatment.

Initial shedding Period

After course of time (usually 3-5 weeks after the treatment) transplanted hairs will fall out, sometimes linked with small yellow or whitish small tissue. This is not the hair root, do not worry. If the hair root should come out then this will be always paired with some bleeding. If this happens, place some pressure onto the bleeding and hold it until it stops.

Sport

• No sport during the first week, avoid sweating.
• As of week 2 non-contact sports are allowed (jogging, bicycling)
• Avoid contact sports during the first month

Re-growth

• How do I recognize the initial growth of a transplant? 3-6 months after the treatment you see small black dots just underneath the skin. The initial hair growth is very fine caliber. In some rare occasions your skin will be infected because of the in growing hairs trying to push through the skin. If necessary the in growing hair should be pulled from the skin by using a sterile needle

Other important Information

• don't hit your head during the first 2 weeks after transplantation. The transplants are in this period still rather weak.
• Avoid direct sunlight during the first 4 months, also during a cloudy day in summertime !
If you nevertheless come in the sun protect your head then hat or cap.
If you visit a sun bed, please cover the recipient area. As soon as the redness has completely disappeared there are no more restrictions.
• Parts of my scalp are numb. This is normal and it will disappear after 1-6 months
