Prohairclinic does not offer a strip procedure (FUT). |
Because of the possible problems/complications after a strip (FUT) procedure, our doctors do NOT offer this technique!
The major difference between an FUT (strip) procedure and an FUE session is the way in which the hair roots are taken from the donor area.
Strip procedure with scalpel During an FUT procedure a piece of scalp, varying from 10 to 25 cm by 1 to 2 cm, is cut surgically from the donor area (back of the head) with a scalpel. When doing so the surgeon has to cut deeper than the depth of the hair roots in order to be able to remove fully intact grafts. Afterwards the gaping wound is sewn up.
Possible problems and risks - During removal of the strip nerve bundles very frequently get cut through causing temporary or permanent numbness in the donor area. - The donor area may be temporarily or permanently painful. - There is a chance of a temporary or permanent tight feeling an the back of the head. - The anatomical structure of the scalp is variable at the site of the scar.
Short hair problem After a strip procedure wearing your hair short is a problem as you can see from the photo. The width of the scar cannot be estimated before the procedure, even with the very latest suturing techniques. This is because the healing of the wound is very largely is very largely dependent on the patient's healing capacity. Strip scars can stretch for different numbers of months after the procedure because the healing process can take up to a year.
