During or after the FUE procedure

•

How long before I can go out again ?

You should be able to resume daily activity 2-3 days after the procedure. We advice against sport or other heavy physical activity up to 1 week after the session.

How long before there are no more visible traces of the transplantation ?

Obviously this is dependent on the amount of grafts that were transplanted. For smaller sessions* (max. 1000-1500 grafts) we can shave a small strip of hair in the donor area. If the donor hair is long enough it will cover this shaved strip afterwards and there will be hardly any evidence.
For larger transplantation (over 1000 grafts) we will need to shave the entire donor area. Alternatively you can have multiple smaller sessions, each session 6 months apart.
The recipient area will be covered with small crusts that are visible up to 2 weeks.

* Donor hair length minimal 6 cm.

Why does the donorarea need to be shaved ?

This is necessary because the micro instruments need to be placed over the hairs, impossible with long hair.

What length will the transplanted hairs grow to ?

The transplanted hairs will grow just as long as other hair. The transplants will act just like non transplanted hair. They will grow as fast as before.
Transplanted hairs will possibly also turn grey at older age. When the hairs are pulled it will hurt just as much as you would pull non transplanted hair !

Does an FUE hair transplant hurt ?

No, we make use of local anesthetics. You might be tired after the sessions, that may last up to 10 hours. Some people have a head ache at the end of the day. This can be resolved by taking a pain killer.
Otherwise there is no severe pain during the procedure, nor after the procedure. Swelling is possible and can occur in the facial area when the implanting took place in the hairline.

•

Is there visible scarring afterwards ?

FUE hair transplantation, using small instruments 0.70-0.80 mm leaves no visible scarring *
By using small instruments to create the recipient site we can also state that the recipient area contains no visible scarring.

*Scarring might be visible under extremely close inspection or under magnification or fully shaven head

What about large sessions ?

We can transplant 2000-2500 grafts per day, or up to 4000 grafts over 2 consecutive days.
These megasessions are rewarding for the patient in such that final results can be achieved in a single session.

The average patient without prior hair transplants can expect to harvest between 4000 and 6000 grafts total.
