Finasteride - the wonder remedy for combating further hair loss
Propecia is the only prescription tablet for the treatment of hair loss in men. It is scientifically proven that one tablet of Propecia a day can stop hair loss and promotes hair growth in two men out of three.
Propecia is used to treat early stages of baldness (alopecia androgenetica) in men. The remedy cannot re-grow lost hairs, it can only protect existing, still growing hairs against falling out.
Propecia is not available in Belgium, but it is in most other countries. A perfect alternative is the remedy Proscar 1 mg, only available on prescription .
We very often advise taking Proscar/Propecia to combat further hair loss.

Minoxedil to extend the hair cycle
Minoxidil was developed in the fifties as a blood-pressure reducing Drug in tablet form. Nowadays it is virtually never prescribed for that purpose because, compared with the other blood-pressure reducing medicines, it has too many Drawbacks. When minoxidil had just come on the market, research workers registered - to everyone's surprise - a striking side effect: hair growth increased on all their test subjects' limbs.
Minoxidil - hair growth Drug
After this discovery, people thought about the form in which the Drug could best be offered for people with hair loss. Finally a lotion containing minoxidil was developed and went on the market in 1988 under the brand names Rogaine (USA) and Regaine (outside the USA). Rogaine went down in the books as the very first officially registered hair growth Drug. Expectations were high: on Wall Street shares in the manufacturer, the American company Upjohn (now Pfizer), shot up like a rocket. Since then the patent on minoxidil has expired and many (cheaper) generic versions have appeared on the market. They are on sale not only as a 2% solution, but also as 5%, 12.5% and even 15%. Studies show that higher dosages work even better: the 5% version should be 45% more effective than the 2% version. In Dutch and Belgian pharmacies only the 2% version is available over the counter. 5% and upwards need a doctor's prescription. When you order on the internet you generally do not need a prescription. This is cheap, but it is advisable to discuss the use of the stronger kinds of minoxidil with your GP.
