Male hair loss
Male hair follicles are being constantly 'attacked' bij DHT (Dihydrotestosterone). Male pattern baldness, also known by its clinical name androgenetic alopecia, is caused by some chemistry on your scalp. It starts with testosterone, the male sex hormone. Harmless on its own, testorsterone gets converted to DHT when in contact with oil from the glands in the hair follicles. These glands hold the enzyme Type II 5-alpha reductase, which monkeys with your male hormone. DHT, in turn, gets in your scalp follicles and shrinks them. At the same time, it makes the protective membrane of the scalp thicken, restricting blood flow to the capillaries. This makes further hair growth impossible. The hairs fall out at a natural rate, but aren't replaced. This process starts around the age of 25-30.

Female hair loss
With women there are several factors that can lead to hair loss.
Women are best to consult a dermatologist
to track down the cause of their hair loss.
If the dermatologist is of the opinion that a hair transplant can be carried out
succesfully, we can take further steps with the patient.
