Frequently Asked Questions

The transplanted hair can achieve the same length as the hair in the donor area.
The grafts behave like all non-transplanted hair. So they will all grow as fast, and if you do not go to the hairdresser, you will eventually have very long hair.

Transplanted hairs actually possess all the properties of 'normal' hair. This means that if you are gray, the transplants will also age. If you pull your transplants, this will also hurt!
Note: it takes up to 12 months after treatment before the grafts reach their full thickness and density ranges.

Small shaving session with a strip in the donor area

If you have long hair (at least 6 cm) and a maximum of 700-100 grafts transplanted, we can shave a strip of hair. After treatment, your long hair falls back over this strip and will therefore cover allmost everything.

Larger treatment> 1000 grafts

However, if you do have a big session of more than 1000 grafts, then we are obligated to completely shave the donor area down to 1 mm. This is necessary to maintain a good donor.

Implantation Area

The area where the grafts will be implanted will be covered with scabs to up to 10 days (usually 7 days), so this is most visible. The implantation area will also have a pinkish color. This discoloration will disappear gradually, but in some cases it takes up to 5-6 months for the complete discoloration to disappear. After the treatment you will receive an After Care kit containing products for a faster general healing of the skin.

This is necessary because our micro-instruments from 0.60 to 0.80 mm should be slid over the hair, it does not work with long hair.

For smaller sessions to about 700-1000 grafts, we can shave a strip in the donor area where the grafts will be harvested. This means that your head won't completely be shaved and the longer hairs in the donor area will cover the shaved area. The disadvantage is that the donor management will no longer be possible. If you ever shave your hairs <5 mm, a shear band is visible where the strip was shaved.

No, we use local anesthetic to numb the area of treatment. You'll probably be tired after treatment, which sometimes takes ten hours. Because you lay in an unusual position for a long time, you may have myalgia afterwards. Immediately after the procedure, some people have a headache. This is probably due to the stress during that the day. The day after the treatment you have no pain or no scalp tension.

Facial swelling may occur up to 8 days after treatment, it is not painful and can not be estimated beforehand. If there is swelling, it usually starts after 2 days and takes 3-4 days.

Unlike other methods of hair transplantation, FUE hair transplantation does not leave a visible scar or in the donor area, nor in the area where the hairs are implanted. Nobody will notice you had a hair transplant, even if your hair is millimetert. The biggest tool that we currently use is 0.80 mm in diameter. The scars are so small they can only be seen under magnification or after shaving of the hair.

Schockloss is a temporary or permanent loss of original hairs due to its implantation. This occurs only when placing grafts in an area where there are original hair. Schockloss is unpredictable and can therefore in principle always occur.

Temporary shock loss: part of the original hairs fall out after transplantation, often associated with hair transplantation. After 3-6 months, both the original and hair transplants regrow.
Permanent schockloss: part of the original hair fall out after transplantation, often associated with hair transplantation. The original hair, or a part of it will not grow back. The reason is that these schockloss hairs were already very weak and wouldn't grow  much longer anyway.
Tip: If possible start taking finasteride at least 6 months prior to hair transplantation. This way the original hairs strengthen and there is less chance of schockloss.

It takes about 7 days before the most visible effects of the treatment have disappeared.

After 14 days there will be a slight pink discoloration in the implantation zone.

You should be able to resume your daily activity 2-3 days after the procedure.

We advice against sport or other heavy physical activity up to 1 week after the session.
